@Lucretia - I know...it's a fine line between why they reported her credit as bad and how they did. Not sure if that makes sense. It's late. :-)

Great service - now someone needs to tell that poor woman who lost the job offer to get her butt to a class-action lawyer to determine whether or not she's got a suit against the 3 major bureaus for reporting her credit as bad when it wasn't... that would be libel/slander depending on how transmitted.

@Khurt - thanks for the information. Yes, Debix does place fraud alerts and they do it automatically so we don't have to call and have it done each time. They also call you if someone tries to open credit in your name/SSN. For busy people, like me, it's good to know someone is watching out for me and my kids!

@Emily - it is scary! I wouldn't have thought about worrying about my kid's identities either.

@Mike - So glad you heard about this 2 years ago and have been proactive about it!

This is something my wife and I actually started researching 2 years ago. It is a very scary thing these days to think this is possible but it is. We are now in the habit of doing a credit report for ourselves and our two children (3yrs and 4months) each year. Thanks for the information.
